2. Allahabad Fort

The fort is situated on the left bank of the river Ganga, near the confluence of the rivers Yamuna and Ganga. It was built in 1583 by Akbar’s foster brother Asaf Khan and was used as a residence for Mughal kings and their entourage. The fort was later converted into a military garrison by Shibli Nomani. The fort has been restored to its original glory and is now open for visitors.

3. Khusro Bagh

The Khusro Bagh is an impressive garden situated near the Allahabad Fort. Emperor Jahangir built it to retreat from his administrative duties at Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi). The name of this garden was depicted by Khusrau Parviz, who was the son of Emperor Parviz (ruled 590-628 AD). The garden has been constructed in Persian style with fountains, pools, terraces and pavilions.

4. Chandrashekhar Azad Park

Chandrashekhar Azad Park is one of the most popular tourist spots in Prayagraj. It was built in memory of freedom fighter Chandra Shekhar Azad. The park is spread over 2 acres and houses a statue of Chandra Shekhar Azad with his signature cap. The park also houses statues of other freedom fighters, such as Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose, who fought against British rule in India.

5. Allahabad Museum

The Allahabad Museum is one of the oldest museums in India; that was established in 1874 by Alexander Cunningham, who was then Director-General of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The museum houses many ancient artefacts related to the culture, art and history of Uttar Pradesh. Some notable exhibits include sculptures from different dynasties like Kushanas, Sungas, Palas, Guptas etc., and terracotta plaques from Mathura.
